This group teaches participants effective communication and listening techniques, skills in stress management, empathy development, judgment and impulse control, anger reduction techniques, skills in self-talk, forgiveness, and much more. The Anger/Stress Management group is designed for men and women who need to learn how to control their anger in a more productive and effective way. Our anger management classes are ideal for self-referrals, court referred clients, as well as those interested in improving relationships with others. TurningPoint uses a cognitive-behavioral, psychoeducationally based model, which utilizes eight key tools for anger control (10 sessions). |

| Domestic Violence Perpetrator Intervention Program |

| In this group, the client's beliefs are challenged concerning the use of violence. Clients are taught alternatives to violence and that violence and abuse are responses chosen out of a range of potential behaviors. TurningPoint stresses the concept that individuals gain power and control over others through the use of violence (The Duluth Model). Many components and tools are taught and reviewed during group sessions that include: choices vs. excuses, defi ning domestic violence, identifying the cycle of violence and how to end it, healthy expressions of anger, healthy confl ict resolution strategies, communication skills, and identifying and expressing feelings other than anger (10 sessions). * Both Anger/Stress Management and Domestic Violence small groups are gender specific. |

| Parenting Skills Training |

| This group is designed to improve parental effectiveness by providing a clear parenting philosophy and a set of positive parenting skills and strategies that can be used immediately to address a variety of child-rearing challenges and problems. Parenting Skills Training will increase parental confi dence, reduce parental stress, anger and anxiety, improve parenting skills, reduce or eliminate spanking and hitting, improve parent-child relations, reduce child behavior problems, improve child cooperation, and strengthen families (6 sessions). |

Marriage Savers is a unique and innovative skills-training group that will empower couples to resolve current and future problems on their own while deepening their sense of connection. Couples will learn to...

- Express their deepest feelings, concerns, and desires openly, honestly, and safely

- Successfully implement agreed-to solutions and behavioral changes
Marriage Savers groups usually number between 4-10 couples in order to maintain a more intimate atmosphere. They also feature signifi cant time for private couple’s exercises and dialogues, which are facilitated by TurningPoint staff. |

| Substance Abuse Education Classes |

| This six-week group is designed to educate the families of addicts concerning the various types of abused substances and the physical effects on the mind and body. This course looks at how families cope with the addict in both positive and negative ways. It challenges them to change the way they view addiction and addictive behaviors by focusing on the aspects of denial, enabling, and manipulation. |

| Substance Abuse Intervention Program |

| This twelve-week group is an intensive program for those who are in active addiction or who have recently completed a residential treatment center. Clients will focus on patterns of addiction and ways to promote relapse prevention. Clients will learn about addiction from a Stages of Change Theoretical Model for recovery. They will be offered a systematic process for changing their addictive behaviors and maintaining long-term abstinence. This is a drug-free program that promotes total abstinence for recovery. Community resources will be made available for continued support in the client’s recovery efforts. |
